Privacy Policy
Get Health Coverage Now (gethealthcoveragenow.com) is the website of Byrd Insurance Services. In this notice, "we" and "us" mean Byrd Insurance Services.
We are an insurance agency, so the law treats us as a financial institution. This notice is the privacy notice that comes with that: it says what information we collect about you, why we collect it, who we give it to, and what we do to protect it. It describes what we actually do. If any of it stops being true, we change this page.
What we collect
When you fill in a form on this website, or talk to one of our agents, we collect:
- Your name.
- How to reach you — your phone number and your email address.
- The state you live in, and sometimes your ZIP code.
- Your date of birth.
- A rough band for what your household expects to earn this year. We ask for a band, never an exact figure.
- Whether you ticked the box agreeing to be contacted, plus the internet address your device was using and the date and time. That record is what shows you agreed, so we keep it with your details.
If an agent asks you for documents, and you send them, we also collect what is in those documents. That is usually proof of income, such as a pay stub or a tax return, and proof of who you are, such as a driver's license or a state ID. Please only send a document when an agent has asked you for it.
Documents you send through this website go to Byrd Insurance Services, where Charlie Byrd, the owner, and the licensed agent working on your case handle them.
We do not ask you about your health on this website. Marketplace plans cannot be priced on your health, so the answer would change nothing.
Our web server also records ordinary technical things, such as the kind of browser you use and the pages you looked at.
Why we collect it
- To work out which kind of coverage you can get, and what help with the cost you may be entitled to.
- To pass you to an agent who is licensed in your state.
- To help you finish an application and enroll.
- To keep the record of your permission to contact you.
- To do what the law and the insurance regulators require of us.
Who sees it
Your details go to our own licensed agents. From there, only as far as finishing what you asked for:
- HealthSherpa. This is where you look at plans and enroll. It is not our website. Your agent gives you a link to it, and what you enter there is held by HealthSherpa.
- The Health Insurance Marketplace. An application has to reach the Marketplace, and the insurance company you choose, or you are not enrolled.
- Companies that run parts of our system for us, such as our website host and the service that sends our texts and emails. They may only use your information to do that job for us.
- Anyone the law says we must tell, such as a court order or a regulator.
We do not sell your information
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, and we do not pass it to other companies so that they can market to you. We are not a lead seller: the details you give us go to our own agents, and that is the whole point of the form.
Information you give the Marketplace
Once an agent is working on your Marketplace application, that information is covered by a federal rule for agents and brokers, 45 CFR § 155.260. Under it we must let you see and correct your information, only collect what we need, keep it accurate, protect it, and report a breach. Your agent asks for your permission before working on your application, and you can take that permission back.
How we protect it
Your details are held in systems that need a sign-in, and each lead is assigned to one licensed agent. We ask you not to email documents that show your Social Security number.
No website can promise that information sent over the internet is completely safe, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. If anything you send us is exposed, we will tell you and the regulator, as the law in your state requires.
How long we keep it, and how to have it deleted
We keep your information for as long as the federal and state rules that cover insurance agents require us to. If you ask us to delete it, we delete it, unless a law or a regulator requires us to keep it. To ask, use the deletion request form on this page. We record your request, confirm with you that it came from you, and then delete your information.
Ask us to delete your information
Send the form below and your request goes to Byrd Insurance Services, where Charlie Byrd, the owner, handles it.
We confirm the request with you before anything comes out of your file. That step is there to protect you: without it, anyone who knew your email address could have your records wiped.
Once your request is confirmed, we take out your name, your phone number, your email address, your date of birth and the documents you sent us. Where a rule for insurance agents says the record itself has to be kept, the record stays and your details come out of it. We write down that you asked and that you confirmed, so we can show the request was handled.
Cookies and advertising
Our pages carry a small tag that tells an advertising platform when a page was viewed or a form was sent. That is how we find out which adverts are worth paying for.
We never send your health information, your income, your date of birth, or the plan you picked to an advertising platform. Where a platform needs to match a form to a person, we send a scrambled version of an email address or a phone number that cannot be turned back into the original, never the address or the number itself.
You can set your browser to refuse cookies. Parts of the site may then stop working properly.
Our chat assistant, and tools run by other companies
Most pages have a chat assistant you can ask questions. To write its answers, it sends what you type to an outside AI service. We do not keep a copy of your chat. We keep only anonymous counts of how much the assistant is used, which are not tied to you, so we can keep it running well. The assistant cannot sign you up or take your details. When you want an agent to reach out, it opens our own short form, and you enter your details and give consent yourself there.
Two pages — our home page and one help page — still show a form and a chat tool that another company runs inside our page. Anything you type into those goes to that company as well as to us, under their terms and not ours. We are moving everything over to our own tools.
When you send documents through our upload page, they go to a secure, encrypted form run by our forms provider, Cognito Forms, and a licensed agent reviews them. Only that agent, and the staff who support them, can see what you send. We keep that page off search engines and out of our menus, so you reach it only from a link an agent gives you.
Children
This website is not meant for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we find that we have, we delete it.
Changes to this notice
If we change what we do with your information, we change this page to match, and the date at the bottom changes with it.
